Chicken – Fresh or frozen whole chicken can be used in this recipe, simply add time to the cooking time for frozen chicken. Fresh or frozen breasts, thighs, or chicken legs can be used in this recipe, just be sure the chicken reaches 165°F on a meat thermometer to ensure it’s fully cooked.
Seasonings – Use your favorite poultry seasoning blend or rub. Even an Italian blend or smokey Cajun blend will infuse extra flavor into the skin and the meat.
Variations – Pour chicken drippings over veggies (like green beans, peppers, or mixed veggies) and cook them in the air fryer while the chicken rests.
How to Make Air Fryer Roast Chicken
Air fryer roasted chicken comes out tender and juicy every time!
- Preheat the air fryer.
- Generously season the chicken and cook in the air fryer, breast side down (as per recipe below.) Tuck the wings under the bird so they don’t burn.
- Flip the chicken over and cook another 25-30 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 165°F at the thickest part of the bird, away from any bones.
- Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Leftover Chicken?
Keep leftover air fryer roast chicken in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Freeze portions in zippered bags in the freezer for up to 4 weeks.

Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F.
