With this easy recipe for LA hot dogs, you can make Los Angeles’s famous “Street Dogs” at home in the air fryer.
Hot dogs are wrapped in bacon and cooked in the air fryer until crispy, then topped with sauteed peppers and onions for a classic “Danger Dog”.
Air Fryer LA Hot Dogs Ingredients
This recipe for LA street dogs tastes like they’re straight from a cart vendor in downtown LA.
Hot Dogs – No need for pricey dogs here! Choose dogs that fit the bun and bacon that’s long and thick enough to cover the hot dog. Try fun bacon blends like pepper or maple bacon!
Toppings – Save time and use a frozen bag of precut peppers and onions that can go straight into the Air Fryer! If using fresh, go for colorful bells like red, green, orange, or yellow for that classic colorful look. Sliced black olives, sautéed mushrooms, jalapenos, green chilis, or diced tomatoes are all great toppings!
Buns – Get sturdy buns that can hold all the toppings! Lightly toast them in the Air Fryer with a little butter for crispy brown edges!
Variations – Make your own ‘hot dog stand’ at home and offer bowls of toppings and condiments like sour cream, ketchup, spicy mustard, nacho cheese sauce, or fresh pico de gallo.

Air Fryer Tips and Tricks
- Always preheat the air fryer for perfectly toasted buns, crispy bacon-wrapped dogs, and tender-crisp peppers and onions.
- For easy clean-up, place sheets of parchment paper or clean coffee filters in the basket or tray of the air fryer before cooking ingredients to soak up excess oil.
- Use toothpicks to secure the bacon to the hot dogs if necessary and remove once cooked.
