Best Bacon Wrapped Appetizer
- It’s a fancy and impressive-looking appetizer recipe, perfect for any occasion.
- This recipe is so easy to make and has just 3 ingredients. Bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts turn out so yummy with very little effort!
- Brussels sprouts are delicious and healthy, sometimes even referred to as a superfood.
Ingredients & Variations
BRUSSELS SPROUTS: Choose very firm sprouts, (preferably still on the stalk) that are pale to bright green, and have no discoloration.
If sprouts are very large, they can be cut in half before being wrapped with bacon.
BACON: Use regular-cut, unflavored bacon, or hickory-smoked bacon so that the flavor contrasts nicely with the maple syrup.
If using thick-cut bacon, it will need to be partially cooked before using, so that it doesn’t interfere with the correct cooking time.
MAPLE SYRUP: Accept no substitutes, when it comes to maple syrup. The real deal, while more expensive, tastes so much better than corn syrup or maple-flavored imitations!
But for a low-carb variation, it’s okay to leave the maple syrup out or substitute a keto-friendly syrup, like Lakanto or another fave!
How to Make Bacon Wrapped Brussels Sprouts
Just a few easy steps and the best appetizer ever.
- Wash and prepare Brussels sprouts.
- Cut bacon in thirds and wrap a piece around each sprout.
- Brush each wrapped sprout with maple syrup and air fry (as per recipe below).
Tips for Prepping Brussels Sprouts
- If sprouts are still on the stem, cut them off with a sharp paring knife.
- Trim the ends off each sprout where the stem was attached to the stalk, and remove any discolored leaves.
- Plunge sprouts in a tub or sink of cold water and allow them to soak for a few minutes, moving them around.
- Drain on a kitchen towel, patting dry as needed.
- To hold the bacon on the sprouts, place each one carefully seam side down in the air fryer basket. Once the bacon gets crisp it should hold, but if desired, a wet wooden toothpick can be used to keep the bacon in place.
