Ingredients and Variations

Bell Peppers – Choose any colorful bell peppers for air frying, be sure they are whole and unblemished. Always remove the seeds and the white pith inside for a more attractive pepper (and the seeds are bitter).

Seasonings – Switch out the olive oil for melted bacon grease or add your favorite Italian, taco, or ranch seasoning.

Variations – Add other veggies like chunks of red or yellow onions, whole small mushrooms, or small pieces of corn on the cob.

How to Make Air Fryer Roasted Peppers

Roasted peppers in the Air Fryer come out tender-crisp and full of smoky flavor!

  1. Prep red bell peppers (per the recipe below).
  2. Mix oil and seasonings and brush over both sides of the peppers.
  3. Cook seasoned peppers cut side down until soft and blackened, turning them over halfway through cooking.
  4. Cool and peel off the skin or use them as is.

Pro Tips for Roasted Peppers

  • To easily peel off the charred pepper skins, place them in a zippered bag and let them steam for about 10 minutes and the skins will slide right off.
  • Keep leftover roasted peppers in a covered container in the refrigerator for 5-6 days.
  • To freeze Air Fryer peppers, cut them into wedges and freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer them to a zippered bag and freeze for up to two months.

Air Fryer Roasted Peppers

For a slightly smoky and sweet side dish or addition to other dishes make these Air Fryer roasted peppers.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings 4

Equipment

Ingredients  

  • 4 red bell peppers
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoons pepper

Instructions 

  • Wash and dry bell peppers. Cut peppers in half vertically. Remove stem and the white pith and seeds.
  • In a small bowl combine olive oil, salt and pepper. Brush over both sides of the peppers.
  • Place pepper halves in the air fryer basket cut side down. You may need to cook them in multiple batches.
  • Air fry at 390℉ for 8 minutes. Using tongs, flip peppers over and air fry for an additional 6-7 minutes until peppers are soft and blackened.
  • Allow to cool and peel off browned skin if desired.

Notes

Red peppers will keep in the refrigerator for 5-6 days. Double the batch and keep in the freezer for 2 months.
