- Easy recipe! Just roll, cook, and serve. Even little chefs can help make pigs in a blanket.
- Simple ingredients! Mini cocktail wieners and a can of crescent rolls are all it takes to make this fun and festive recipe. Experiment with different seasonings and add-ins to match the menu!
- Make ahead! Then just reheat in the air fryer right before serving!
Ingredients and Variations
Crescent Rolls – Crescent rolls are the perfect size for pigs in a blanket. Also, the dough is perforated so each little piggie is uniform in shape and size!
Short on dough? Use refrigerated biscuits! Cut each biscuit in half and roll it into a larger circle. Place the little smokie on one end and roll it up!
Cocktail Smokies – AKA “lil smokies,” these are found in nearly every supermarket and convenience store. They can come in cans of 12 or shrink-packed in 2 or 3-pound packages and can be mild or spicy. If you can’t find smokies, cut hot dogs into 2” pieces.
Variations – Cut a slice of cheese into 4 quarters and roll up with the smokie in the crescent roll, if desired. Try American slices, Swiss, or Havarti cheese for different flavor profiles every time.
Try brushing a little garlic butter or BBQ sauce on the dough before rolling up the smokies, if desired. Even a dash of DIY Cajun seasoning or a blackened blend will add extra zesty flavor to these pigs in a blanket.
