Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
Scrub potatoes clean (or peel them if you'd prefer) and cut into ½" fries.
Toss sliced potatoes in a medium bowl with the oil and salt.
Place the fries on the air fryer trays or in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 12 minutes, shake the basket and cook for an additional 7-9 minutes or until the fries are golden brown.
Notes
Cooking time can vary based on the thickness of the fries, how full the basket is, and the brand of air fryer you have.If time allows, soak the potatoes in a bowl or sink filled with cold water for 30 minutes. Drain well and dab dry. Oil and season as directed.Air will need to be able to circulate around the fries. If the basket is too full, the french fries will not cook evenly. Fries do not have to be in a single layer but don't overfill the basket. Shake it frequently so the fries cook evenly. The more you fill the basket, the longer the fries will take to cook.No Air Fryer? No Problem. Cook the fries on a parchment-lined pan at 425°F for 30-35 minutes depending on thickness. Ensure the pan is not overcrowded and stir occasionally. For even browning, cook fries in small batches. Once all batches are cooked, place all batches back in the air fryer to heat and crisp.
